About the clinic
Everyone startssomewhere.
Fly High is a beginner volleyball clinic for ages 12–15 in Richmond. We give young players a low-pressure, well-coached place to fall in love with the game.
Most of our players have never touched a volleyball before their first session, and that's exactly who the clinic is built for.
Over 16 evening sessions across the summer, we teach the basics of the game to kids aged 12 to 15 (13 to 15 for Ferris Elementary alumni). No experience, no kit, no pressure. Just trainers, a water bottle, and a willingness to try. Sessions run twice a week at Burnett Secondary, in small enough groups that every player gets real coaching and real court time.
You can't learn to fly in a weekend.
Real improvement isn't a one-week camp — it's a full season on the same court, with the same coach and the same teammates, getting a little braver each time. That's how a beginner actually becomes a player: not in a burst, but week after week.
What we're about
The fundamentals, done properly
Serving, receiving, setting and hitting, taught at a beginner level and in the right order, so good habits form early instead of being unlearned later.
A growth mindset
We coach grit and resilience as deliberately as technique — but the real teacher is time. Over a season of sessions, a kid who flinched at a serve in week one is calling for the ball by the end. Small wins, stacked up, until they add up to a player.
Friendly, never fierce
Challenges and small-sided games keep it competitive and fun without the pressure. Every child plays, and every child is welcome.
Come and play.
